Stebník village lies in northwest part of Nízke Beskydy. First written mention of the village comes from 1414. It was established by the village originator and farming settlers. In medieval times it belonged to Makovica manor. Religious dominant – Greek Catholic Cathedral – originated at 1838. Today little more than 300 people live here. They have quite good civic amenities available. In Stebník both nursery and basic school are functional. You can find here also sports facility, new House of Sadness, sufficient number of shops and public utility undertakings. In Stebník female singing group variegating programs of cultural celebrations acts in Stebník and surroundings. Cadastre includes part of national wilderness area Magura. In the past also pioneer camp functioned here but currently it is not available. Wonderful nature in connection with traditional architecture well-kept up to the present day and strategic position close to border create conditions for tourism development in the village.
